Sorry to bother everyone but we have lost power to our flat and we cant seem to figure out the problem. The rewireable fuses aren't blown and the other flats have power. Obviously diagnosing a problem without seeing it is a pain but we are just wondering is it a fixable problem or are we going to have to get someone out in the morning?

Thanks in advance :)

Update: Its now randomly turned back on, could it be something to worry about or should I just be grateful?

if your fairly competent I'd open your cu and look for any arcing or burn marks. look for any loose cables. if your not competant then I wouldn't risk getting a shock.

seems a bit random how it came back on without you doing anything?

I have done abit but im only a first year and all my tools are locked up on site.

Nope didnt do anything, it came back on as I was typing the post.

Its also just gone back off lol

Sounds like it could be a loose connection or broken conductor somewhere on the submain feeding your flat.

There's also quite a few other things it could be.

You should call someone out. Don't wait till tomorrow.

Whereabouts in the W Mids are you - several of the gang here are spread across the E & W Mids.

Could be a phase down or intermittently going off had this the other evening when I got there at about 10pm there was an EDF guy trying to fix fault down the road. Would not mind but they had lost power at 5pm so what a wasted journey.

So what happened?

Did you fix it?

Did you call out the DNO?

We are all wetting ourselves in anticipation of not knowing...

Well Deke & Jennifer are....

But Maureen mopped the mess up so Andrea told me.

:D

Yes its too late , I've wet myself waiting and wondering , will it be a loose connection in the CU main switch , is it an old Wylex where a bit of dust buggers up the main switch, is it within the cut-out ,is it getting hot . Is it out in the street somewhere in the cold hard ground ................Ooooo it was all too much !!!!
