Had an appointment with the Devon shoulder specialist on Tues night. ( An old rugby injury)

He mixed up some local & Hydrocortizone, shoved it in me shoulder from above & said "If you still have any pain in 4 wks come back"

Well I cant move me bloomin arm now and am in so much more pain than I ever was before.

Is this normal, should I go back to him now? :_|

Right, well I contacted him & now it looks like I might have to have surgery, he assured me it would'nt be invasive as he only does keyhole surgery.

I cant help think though that this is going to make my shoulder less mobile, maybe time for a career change?

Hi my other half is a holistic therapist , and i asked here about this and she reckons that it is quite normal to have worse pain and immobility in the first 48 hours after these injections so maybee it will get better.

Sparkyrj, thankyou for that.

Your other half is indeed right, it is a little bit less painful today, but I still cannot move my arm above my head or out to the side, could you ask her if this is also normal?

Thanks in advance.

Nige.

yes she says this is quite normal as well and the movement should come back. regards Roy.

Had these in the spine a few times Nige, and never had any issues like this. It felt cold in the bone as it went in, and the pain felt as though someone had put it in the corner and thrown a blanket over it, if you get my drift?

Never had more pain, though. Maybe shoulder different to back??

Hiya Martyn how goes it mate?

For me it was more like a build-up of pressure as he put it in, no cold.

Help me out here I am a bit thick, corner, blanket???

Well, Imagine that you`ve got an ugly statue in your lounge, and its annoying you. You can`t chuck it out, as its a family heirloom.

So, you push it into the corner, and cover it up. It`s still there, but it doesn`t bother you as much.

Same thing but mentally, if you know what I mean????

If there was local anaesthetic with the steriod I wouldn't have expected you to have any pain. Is there any heat or swelling? No chance of a bit of infection?

No infection, but the pain apparently was a ghost?

All is back to normal now pain wise, movement is slightly restricted but getting better every day.

Fingers crossed I wont have to have the surgery.
