IE Updated - My status bar is checked, but where has my download progress bar gone? windows 7 version 6.1

Guys,

Had a message from Microftsoft that updates are available.

Usually set to automatic, so don't know why it didn't install itself.

Anyway, the updates were installed (SP 1 amongst others). I have Windows 7 Home Premium operating system. (version now is 6.1).

It took me long enough to get used to the looks and feel of Windows 7. Now it has all changed for the worse, again. Don't like the layout. (it does have rounded edges like Firefox now though).

But the green download progress bar on the Status bar at the bottom of the screen has gone missing, even though I have right clicked and selected the tick box for "Status Bar" at the top of my screen.

Where is it? Anyone going/gone through the same? And more importantly, how would I get it back please?

It doesn't show in Firefox either (can't even find the optio for that) I have updated/graded that to Firefox version 4.

most of us are on DOS6.0, some of the posh ones on windows3....

But very few are as rich as you blokes wot can afford to get proper software....
