i have a ikon central heatig control the problem i av got is the system runs on hot water but not on central heating the direction valve stops in the same position

when sellecting both. The light shows that the heating is on the control pannel but the pump only runs when hot water is sellected any ideas

Have you got a room thermostat?

If so is it turned up?

If not the problem then it sounds like the Zone Valve has packed up, the lever should move acrosswhen heating is on and when fully open will switch on boiler.

the room stat is up full but when turned down it does not click

is there any way the zone valve can be tested

Hi again

No best first to check are you getting 230 V at supply to Zone valve.

Easiest to test this at the Wiring centre/ junction box that the Zone valve is wired from.

You SHOULD be getting 230 volts on the BROWN to BLUE of the 5 cre cable going to the Zone valve when the heating is on and Stat turned up.

If You have got 230 Volts and the Zone valve does not operate then you need a new Zone Valve.

IF NO 230 Volts then investigate the Thermostat.

Just to check if switching contact in Zone valve is ok push lever on it fully over untill you hear a click and boiler and pump should kick in.

when i push the lever over manual on the valve it returns to the hot water

setiing but when on heating seting the pump kicks in then goes off when valve returns

can you the just buy a motor for the valve if that is problem

thanks for your help so far

I am sorry Moose, is there just ONE valve with 3 pipes or 2 Zone VALVES one for Heating and one for water?

just the one valve with three pipes one for hot water and the one for heating

Hi Mooseman, yes sorry I have misled you, you have a Y Plan Not S Plan system.

Have you checked the Room stat is working?

If thats ok then probably it is the 3 Port valve that has had it.

Thanks for your help it turned out to be the room stat cheaper than the valve now i can get on with my revision for me 2391 on the 10th june

thanks again moose

Glad to hear you got it sorted and al the best for your 2391 in June
