Its the old bakalite switches isnt it-used to be round ones before that-from the 50's and before I believe

TIP : colapse the sides in with a hammer and screwdriver this will leave the back plate only , then screw your nice new 16mm metal box to that.

depending on the condition of the fixing, this doesnt always work

Better tip....

Take the back bit out as well & put your metal box deeper into wall, in-case customer wants dimmer switch at later date! :eek: ; )

more depth.... bigger fatter switches can fit in!B-)
