I would use a waterproof box with copper inline crimps and heatshrink sleeving over connections. I have used line taps in past which are ok but have got to join a 16mm cable next week and will be using first option.

Adaptable boxes come with screw terminals

(the ABS ones on the list NOT the metal bits! :( )

The big un has 16mm rated term's (18734)

next has 10mm rated term's (13096)

next has 6mm rated term's (17962)

etc...

etc..

you get the gist!

I have used the 13096 before to extend a 10mm. ;)

(not saying thats a good price.. but its an easy list of them.. have a shop around)

I think Tenby do a good 60 amp jb, used them before got clamps and are very easy. Will try to find a link.
