Our madcap Kelpie has managed to cut her front paw pad. It's a deep cut which heals - then she feels better - plays - and opens it up again. We've bandaged it - good game! We've used steri strips - tasty! We've tried latex bandages - cries and attacks her foot as soon as they are removed. Tried smearing surface of the bandages in Vick to stop her attacking them - no avail. We've got a dog boot on order - but is there anything else we can do that would help - new skin - spray on plaster or similar?

Thanks

Dave

The Savlon New Skin is great stuff but if you've ever used it on your self IT STINGS LIKE MERRY HELL! Need a good natured dog to allow you to use it on them. Keep adding more on top every time you go out for much of a walk as it wears away.

A quick tip for a cut paw - squeeze the edges together and use normal domestic superglue! (Don't let dog put foot on ground or lick it until it's dry!). Dab the wound with some clean cotton wool/paper towel to remove the blood - needs to be dry. Usually squeezing the edges together stops the bleeding.

Blimey! That was quick!!!! Thanks - we'll start with the new skin as it's not weeping and she is such a good natured dog. I'll let you know how it goes! Thanks!

The doglet was OK with spray on plaster - but when the dog boot arrived it was brilliant. I'm able to take her on a cross country 5 mile walk without it slipping. Can't believe my own vet didn't advise this when she had a paw injury a few months ago. The link is below if it's any use.

Thanks again.

I always for the booties a bit crap! We sell one or two but not many. The ones you link look a better job.

Thanks for the link
