it is true that all new extentions need to have low energy lighting fitted to comply with building regs, as the client has just told me about it...

he wants stotlights, LED's ant that great, and CFL seem to be dimmish...

 
Yes, my understanding is that three out of four have to be energy efficient, however they no longer need to only be able to take low energy lamps, you can use normal fittings with low energy lamps fitted

Im of the opinion LED is the answer, after the original outlay you have them paid for in less than a year on running costs alone, never mind the replacement rate of normal halogens.

I once worked out that with normal usage a CFL GU10 lamp costing

 
Must be honest , I totally ignore it . Getting totally pi$$ed of with all this extra legistration they keep lumping upon us . Or 'praps I'm just getting past it.

yep 3 out of 4 now need to be low energy. standard lamps with CFL and LEDs are fine to the building regs.
