OK,

I have a "special" client who needs to provide cordless phones to their "special clients" that must work for a short while in the event of a power failure.

We were, both of us, thinking about small plug in UPS devices.

Any other ideas, or where we can get reliable long life UPS devices that will not suffer like NiCd batteries?

For a reasonable cost, cheaper, or on par with running in a fixed line phone through half of a house & providing a fixed line handset...

Please.

That's overkill

Most cordless phones run from a low voltage DC, typically 9V or 12V

It would be far better to replace the existing wall whart power adaptor that they come with, with a rechargeable battery of the correct voltage kept on constant trickle charge.

Dave,

I respect your idea, but, what ever is done, needs to comply with any and all statute law and guidance, legislation etc.

We really need a plug in solution TBH.

My client is "Public Sector" and if you read between the lines from my other posts then you will realise who the end users are and why we need this, check back and you'll understand I'm sure why I am asking the question.

Off the shelf 240V ups would appear the only solution, but it will be costly.

If it's a one off designed for a specific purpose, it falls outside the scope of most directives, so I can't see why you could not package up nicely a battery and charger for them?

Onoff,

Never heard of this unit or it's makers, I doubt my clients would be happy spending your money putting something into the end users homes that was never heard of, from an ebay seller, also it it goes wrong, burns their house down & kills them I'll be liable and the client will make sure I am, so thanks, but, no thanks, sorry!
