is it ok to use 2x 10mm for a main earth if you dont have any 16mm to hand?

Yes it can be done, you will have to note on the certificate that its 2x 10mm and I would label the cable at the met so there can be no mistake as to what they are.

cheers. So it seems that as long as you make a note on your cert you can pretty much do what you like ; -) they should teach that in collage save sparks a bit of time lol

Well I would not go that far but it is not against the regulations unless other factors became an issue.

As long as you comply with "conductors in parallel" of 7671 (I can`t be bothered to find the exact reg; too much stella ( ;) ), It isn`t an issue.

As for "teaching that in college", basically you can do anything you want; as long as you can justify your reasons as/when it becomes an issue!!
