Went to a domestic property on saturday and couldnt identify main cutout fuse.

Didnt want to cut seals.

The head was an old cast iron(?) 3 phase unit + neutral link. With `ISCO` on the front. Only one phase being used. Porcelain collars as glands.

Tried to take photos but my phone refused!

Any idea of BS no. and what shall i put on cert for rating?

Cheers

Chris

Give DNO a call, in the likely event that they give you sod all help, in this situation I put unobtainable on the cert & make a note of reasons.

Its another case of us being expected to have x-ray vision . First the powers that be , tell us we cannot cut seals then ask us to put those details on our certs. Personally , if I can't inspect the fuse I just leave it blank.

Don't open those cast cut-outs , they can be dodgey !!! ( I'd guess it is a 60 amp rewirable BTW)

Deke

Have recently found no fuse - just piece of wire,(will place photo if I get time) and 100A fuse protecting an 80Amp meter / 16mm tails. Have now decided to pull and inspect all fuses - sod the seals.

That would be my bet as well! ; )Applaud Smiley

i was trained as a meter installer once (never did the job in the end) when working with cast heads they just said check the head isnt live with something similar to a neon screwdriver, and wear latex gloves.

Do latex gloves actually stop u getting a shock anyway???!!!!
