advice most welcome

A "megaflow" is just a brand name of one make of pressurised hot water cylinder, but like "hoover", "megaflow" now seems to be used for any of the several different makes of pressurised hot water cylinder.

They are just like any other hot water cylinder, except instead of being supplied from a header tank, they are fed directly (via a pressure reducing valve) from the water mains. The benefit being you get hot water at the same pressure and flow of the cold mains water, rather than the dribble of hot water from a header tank fed ordinary cylinder.

From a sparky's point of view they are exactly the same as any other hot water cylinder. They usually have 2 immersion heaters, and can be direct or indirect so can be heated by a central heating system, in which case they need the same controls and valves as any other hot water system. They do have a cylinder thermostat built in to make life a little easier.

They are Pressurized Water cylinders that can have indirect heating (Off boiler) and IMMERSION HEATER(S)

They have built in Cylinder Stat for control of BOILER heated water system AND Seperate IMMERSION heater Element with its OWN thermostat.

DONT GET MIXED UP BETWEEN THE TWO, THEY ARE TOTALLY SEPERATE AND NOT MEANT TO BE INTERCONNECTED, as I have seen some attempt to do!

If TWO Elements as mentioned earlier then BOTTOM one is meant for ECO 7 night only feed, and TOP one for day BOOST off 24 Hour circuit.

Think that depends on the size of the cylinder as there are some with 3.

Hi Ian

I have not come across any with 3 but they may be available, although the Cylinder STAT for indirect system control LOOKS like a 3rd element position.

Thanks

Not seen that one, suppose it gives quick heat up option, spins the old Meter fairly, not want to be paying the bill!
