Melting bitumen

Hi everyone, hope you are all doing well.

I was at a house the other day and the head was dripping very slowly. The bitumen is melting, wet to the touch. I told customer to call supplier.

Has anyone ever come across this before? What is this a sign off?

see it all the time. very common. call DNO and they usually change the head.

Usually a sign that a lot of things are being used so supply is being worked well. As Andy says call Dno they should change it.

I agree with the comments so far.

Bitumen only "leaks" when raised to a melting temperature, so it would suggest some heat is present causeing the bitumen to melt, this can only be attributed to a loose connection.

Do as the other posters have suggested, and it will be taken care of

I'd say loose connection in cut-out, gets hot, compound melts, call Local Network.
