Hi all--first post!

Scenario--new installation,PME,100A bs1361 fuse, 130m tails to installation.

I have buried 35mm 3 core SWA to the new installation and would like to protect my part of the installation from the 100a incomer.

Any recommendations? ie switchfuse,MCB ?

The installation will only carry 50a max.

double pole 100mA (or 500mA if you prefer) 63A RCBO. (?)

have you worked out your resistance for Ze.?

remember that this is a sub main,

so everything in your installation is NOT at source.

also raises the question of remote installation being TT,(???)

(here we go again!)

Just to let you all know that I contacted leccy board (NEDL).

They have confirmed in writing that the 100A bs1361 fuse together with the isolator is all that is required and that no further protection of the tails is necessary.

thats good to hear mate, but would prob still be a wise precaution to protect the tails for your own convenience.

less hassle if a problem does occur.

I agree but then you get into the realms of sub mains and expoting PME!!!!

ok, no probs,

but you still have the major problem of voltage drop, and tbh, I dont think you could class a board 130m away from the cut out as being at the origin anyway. IMHO.

I think as your 35mm SWA is protected by a 100a fuse you would have to do all you calcs based on this,

and,,,

IMHO,

35mm SWA will not carry 100a.

its nowhere near big enough, and thats not calculating anything.

I know you are only going to draw 50a, but you could in theory try and draw 100a.

please remember, these points are only my little opinion, not a definitive answer.
