Hi Guys,

Received an E-mail asking to buy my 80A 30ma RCCB.

The Gentleman stated that the spark had fitted a 300ma in error.

Gentleman & I agreed a price, Item sent - Item Received.

Is there any reason why this chap can't use the RCCB? He says his Board was changed to an MK Sentry in July 1994.

Many Thanks,

Jamie.

for a standard install the 300mA one would just be wasting space and would prob never trip in any decent length of time.

is it a farm or something? then that would make sense.

as for yours, 2kA is actually pretty low breaking capacity, might not be suitable depending on his supply, ie. PME, cable sheath, TT etc, would need a PSCC to be sure.

Hi Steptoe,

It's a house, Mate. I have E-mailed to ask his supply type.

here's two more pics that he has emailed me.

Not that sure WW, but 2KA does seem very low, by todays standards..

Goodnight to you, Sir.

Indeed Mate. Going very well, considering it was opened on the 13th of February. I wonder who 100th person to register is going to be.

hi

the 300mA rcd is a waste of time on this jobbie because it only takes around 50-80mA to kill you so.....

up to 30mA shock protection (supplementary protection from direct contact)

above 30mA fire protection only ( indirect protection only)

thats why there are TWO rcd boxes on an inspection schedule-if you fit a 30 model you can tick BOTH boxes- direct AND indirect contact...

with a 300 you can only tick the indirect protection box....

Hi Doc, The Gentleman's Spark put in the 300ma in error.

I sold the RRCB to him. (I knew nothing of this situation at the time).

I have since, sourced an 80 A MK LN 5780s 30ma for the Gentleman.

And posted it off - this morning.
