evening,

ive got to quote for a new build and am not 100% sure on the lighting requirements, so after abit of advice, i understand that 75% has to be energy efficient but does that mean just with the lamps or do you have to use the pendants/downlights that will only take energy efficient lamps?

any help/advice will be great.

it used to be 1 in 4, and you could only use low energy holders. but its now 3 in 4, but iirc, you can use a normal BC or ES as long as it has a low energy lamp in it

Monkeyman, iirc , means , in Andyspeak, " If I remember correctly" .

And for what its worth , I just fit ordinary ceiling roses , because whoever moves in will fit their choice of light fitting ( And won't worry about Part L)

cheers guys, basically told the owner that once BC had been and done there bit theres nothing stopping him getting an electrician (hopefully me) to change for fittings of his choice.

ive been to many new builds to remove the low energy pendant and fit a standard BC pendant

you can often leave the base & wiring, just change the flex part

i have found that these l;ow energy pendants fail quickly and need replacing

nobody likes them

last new build i did i put low energy lamps on normal pendants......BC man didnt care

Ive had the low energy pendants fail within 8 or 10 months!!!!

ALSO..

customers don't like em cuz they need the fat lamp shade rings!!

Any questions like this...

you just need to download a copy of the relevant Approved document.. ('L' I think?)

Find the page..

print out a copy..

work to that & if the Building inspector raises any questions just show him the printed page!!!
