Hi guys, I don't have any experience at PV installations and just wanting to learn about it. Can any one recommend any good books, DVDs to learn from? Don't want to splash out on a course yet.

Are people fitting high voltage in series, low voltage systems or micro inverter systems?

Many thanks

It never was step toe. I asked if people are installing HV PV meaning hv dc and then the above post said its still classed as lv.

Anyway like I said I have no experience at PV my original post was asking if anyone knew where to get hold of some basic PV info. Any good books etc that anyone can recommend?

OK,

BASIC info

LOW VOLTAGE is low voltage

HIGH VOLTAGE is high voltage

DC and AC are differing types of delivering CURRENT,

DC = direct CURRENT

AC = alternating CURRENT

are we keeping up so far?

Take a look in the Big Green Book for the definition of Low Voltage I haven't got mine to hand so can't post the page for you...
I do have the book to hand.

Page36

Voltage Nominal

Summary not a quote

Extra-low 50 V ac or 120 V ripple free dc

Low 1000 V ac or 1500 V dc between conductors or 600 V ac, 900 V dc conductors and earth

High Greater than the above

OK,so define how a 1000v DC solar system is going to be HV ?
Not sure if that was in reply to me or not, It just followed my post.

1000v DC is clearly not HV

I was just throwing in the page number because Sidey doesn't want to walk to the van and get his book out, and I hand mine to hand :)

Step toe- I have been on the post a while and read a number of your comments. You seem an intelligent bloke but you seem to love to humiliate the lesser experience. This is a forum, people come here for advice not to be humiliated after all we know that everyone can talk a good job don't we?? I suggest that if you are not able to provide any relevant knowledge then I suggest you keep your moaning or banter between you and your mates down the local pub! At least they might think it's worth listening to you moan.

If you didnt seem so much like a troll half the time maybe Steps would take you more seriously.
