Hello chaps,

for the nic/elecsa assesment do i need a prooving meter or can i do it from a know supply?

thanks

paul

oh i also take it that the assesser would not be happy if i used metal steps!

I didn't have a proving meter for my ELECSA assesment, just check before and after on known supply. Make sure you do the isolation properly though and lock it off or if your in the house on your own ask him as there is only the 2 of us here is it ok to leave it unlocked. Also make sure you put any covers back on especially the c/u one or again ask if its ok if your the only ones there. Proper isolation is one thing my assesor watched me quite closely on. I also used metal steps with no problems

I think Blue Fox has answered your question very well.

The metal steps issue does give rise to a few safety issues when live testing, however it is not really a problem if you do all testing according to the correct procedures.

If an assessor asks why you are using metal steps answer him by saying your risk assesment of the testing to be carried out showed that fibre glass steps where not required. Or words to that effect.
