Im looking at my snag list of condition report faults and they seems to be loads of no cpc at switch at a few houses.I mean it can only be an earth broken somewhere between the switch and light cant it i mean an r1 +r2 will have been tryed at the switch no reading by the tester?

no, it probably means no cpc in the cable - depending on age of installation, it was common to use cable without cpc for switch drops, but not whole circuit. If there is cpc in cable then it probably means cpc has been chopped off at switch instead of being connected to back box.

so if not down at the switch come off a pendant with an earth down to a switch what with yt2!more than likely it will be plastered over

So are you saying theres an earth at the pendants but not the switches ?  I think you'll find there is no earth at all in the lighting .   Don't worry about it unless somone is asking you to install it .

Theres no earth to the lighting in my own house ,except the kitchen. Its not a problem unless you want metal switch plates and class 1  light fittings.

As Binky quite rightly pointed out, it was common in the 60's to wire a cpc to the pendants but only a twin switch drop. When twin & earth became the norm a lot of the older sparks cut off the earth cable as they had been ok without it for the last 30 years, so no need for it now.
