Hi All

This might be a daft question, but I'll ask it anyway!

How do I go about notifying building control when I'm not registered with a Part P scheme?

I'm just starting out so not yet registered with a Part P scheme, although I do intend on joining a scheme. Obviously when I do join they will need to assess my work but I need to have some work for them to assess

Cheers

Just phone up your LABC department and ask them to send you some application forms and a schedule of charges..(and ask them how they implement the Part P charges)

Fill the form out and send with payment.. you can only start the work 2 days after they have received the paperwork (unless it's a distress job - got to be done now!)

Go to our downloads section..

get a copy of Approved document P

http://www.talk.electricianforum.co.uk/downloads.php?do=cat&id=17

Pages 10,11 & 12 cover most of the guidance for the recommended procedures for notifying work from DIY to qualified self cert..

Also find your local council website..

They will normally have some webpages with Building regs stuff

Including the costs you will have to pay...

Once you have a rough idea of whats what..

ring your LABC..

Tell em what you need to do..

and don't let them fob you off or led you round in the departments!
