HI GUYS AM DOING MY NVQ AND I NEED HELP WITH THESE QUESTIONS 

  1. A motor is reconnected into a circuit and then switched but runs the wrong way, how will you correct this malfunction and how could it have been prevented from happening.

  1. Why would an induced over voltage  occur and what damage may occur if this happened while working on an unprotected computer



3  When pricing for a job why do you need to have an installation specification and what would you expect to find included in the specification

4       A customer wants to have some outside lighting recommended for use. Give some examples of the type of information that you will provide and questions that you will ask the customer?

5      What are extraneous -conductive-parts and where would they be found in commercial kitchen. How will you reduce the risks of shock from such extraneous -conductive- parts in the kitchen.

6  Where do we use the reference method when calculating cable size

Welcome to the forum...

If you want to get best results to your question you will need to have a go at answering them yourself first,

then we can help point you in the right direction if you have any bits wrong...

The basic concept is something like:-

a) none of us want to waste our time typing out some thing that you already understand...

as that is no help to anybody.....

b) you should have already been given some guidance as to where to find such answers as part of your course...

so its not just a complete random unrelated topic that you have no awareness of.

c) people do not learn anything by being spoon fed answers...

(this fact has been proven time and time again over many years through schools colleges & workplaces all over the country)

d) if you really do not have the slightest clue how to even try and answer 90% of the questions then possible you may be on the wrong course and will struggle to go much further?

e) If you were paying us for a personal tutor consultation possible there may be other ways to assist...

But as a voluntary discussion forum...

Not many members like doing homework for a complete stranger who hasn't even tried to answer their question themselves first....

Try writing down some of your thoughts and reasons why something may or may not be an answer to each of the questions... 

For example you question about solder termination;

You may start thinking out what other types of joints are avaiable..

what terminations are permanent and what type are non-permanent...

what sort of joint need to be accessible and removable for maintenance / testing

what sort of terminations may be susceptible to movement, vibration, damp, heat.. etc... 

some joint are not good in specific environments...

have a go with your own suggestions and I am sure you will get loads of help...

Welcome to the forum.

There are many willing and able members here who can help you with this, but as has already been suggested, you need to have a go yourself first.

If you do then we can help you to hone your answers, we do have a bit of a policy of not, doing homework for people here, but, we will help those who post the questions and their attempted answers, we won't hand it to them on a plate, but we will say things like "look here" or "read this", or say things like given this does your answer now make sense because of...

There is nothing to be gained by us doing your homework for you.

Once you qualify, you will need to be competent, else you could kill someone, or burn a property to the ground.

So there is no real quick fix.

Please post up your attempted answers one at a time will be fine if you want and we can then critique them.

We also have an area specifically for students and learners, it is subscription based I think, but, it is staffed by competent and qualified tutors.

Do you have access to a copy of BS7671? As you say solder terminations are used extensively in electronic devices. but that is not within the scope of BS7671. You need to remember that BS7671 is more related to the design, installation and testing of circuits to distribute power to accessories and devices not the devices themselves. So you will need to think about joints and terminations in cables. There is a section 526 all about electrical connections and solder joints are mentioned within those regulations. Consideration of temperature rise during high fault currents is one issue with a solder joint. You don't want a joint in a CPC becoming open circuit due to a high fault current flowing to earth. There is also the aspect of inaccessible joints where screw terminations are not permitted, but welding, soldering, brazing, crimping are. Have a read of regulations 526.1 thro 526.9 that should give you a few examples of where solder joints are used.
