Yesterday core drilling in a tight spot using my weaker hand on the trigger, I was stood side on to the drill & not behind it so my left wrist was slightly bent.....core snagged & clutch cut in with only a slight quick jarring of my wrist..

Ouch that could have been worse, carried on all day drilling & pulling in cables, struggled changing gear on the drive home.....Mrs107 drives to parents evening at the school where school nurse bumps into us, see's my swollen wrist.................."that's fractured why have the hospital not immobilised it"...........Errrm because I've not been

So after a restless night with an aching wrist I got to have it x-ray'd this morning now waiting for the (this is a new one on me) virtual fractures clinic to review the x-ray's & call to tell me if it needs a cast or a few days in this splint thing. told it is a potential fracture of the Scaphoid bone.

Had to call my customers to cancel jobs..........not good!

Oh boy, not good, I really hope that it's not broken mate, that would be dire.

I don't know how I would manage in that scenario, so I do feel for you, and stuff the pain, that'll go away! ;)

The hurt to the business could be incalculable! ;)

Seriously, both issues are real, I hope that you get better soon.

this is why I no longer core drill ,

have had too many broken bones/wrists/arms over the years to risk it nowadays,

hope its not as bad as thought,

expect the worst, but hope for the best,

Sounds nasty!

I have come very close to doing it...but fortunately never suceded!

When i was an apprentice my 'boss' reckoned if a drill jammed on him he could burn it out before it caused him anyndamage. He was built like an outside toilet constructed from masonary ....old Wolf single speed back handle drill snatched on him."it rollled him right down the corridor"

Lets be careful,out there

OOOoo   best of luck with that  107  .       I',m built like a typical sparks & not exactly limp wristed but one thing I do not like is core drilling .

A zip bit snatching in timber can wrench a wrist never mind a 4" core drill.

Foolishly decided to get back on my skateboard a couple of years back and this happened. Cue 1 operation, 1 titanium plate, 8 screws, 6 weeks off work and 1 angry wife.

:slap  @ SSS

So far all customers have been understanding..........couple more to go

4 weeks no heavy lifting no twisting the wrist no driving  :_|

All sorted with customers so hopefully it will all end ok.

I chipped a bone in my wrist in my martial arts training. Bone met bone.

Sometimes i think i am getting an electric shock when gripping, its the rotten wrist playing tricks on me.

I get that too, and cant recall it being the result of an injury.

Thing is there is almost a reflex to pull yourself away from what ever you are near, that I've had to train myself out of and allow a bit more thought into... if the task at hand is loading the toolbox into the van then its actually unlikely to be a real shock!
