Morning, been asked to look at a crane site with Omron control gear. Not particularly au fait with it as trained on Rockwell's Micrologix stuff.

The info I can see from the drawings supplied is as follows:

OMRON CIMR-J7AZBOP4O

3G3JV-PFI-1010-E

From looking at the drawings there are 2 such units fitted. The above unit looks as though it is a speed drive for the left/right traverse and the second unit fitted has a slight change to the last 2 numbers of the first line (it finishes as 20 not 40), on the drawing this looks like a speed drive for the body slew.

The system uses the following input units in the main control cabinet:

OMRON SRT2-ID16 (2OFF). The unit also has the following in the system:- SRS1-T (I think this is only an end of system termination unit), SRT2-ROC 16 (This is a 16 point output unit), SRT2 – ROC 08 ( an 8 point output unit), SRM1-CO1-V2 (this may be the controller but I am not sure).  Also on a remote platform there is another SRT2-ID16 unit.

As a start, can anyone advise as to what software / hardware is required for use with the laptop or a good contact at Omron. No doubt there'll also be some extortionate interface unit to buy as well! Weighing up the buy the gear / get someone in thing. But would be good to learn. Again, no doubt there'll be some issues with kit being obsolete!

"CX-Drive" software needed for a start maybe?

Cheers

The CIMR is an inverter

You have a load of remote IO modules there SRT 2's

The SRM1 is a master controller (probably like the AB ASB RIO module)

I don't think you have found the plc yet though, although I'm not familiar with Omron part numbers

i suggest you phone omron  uk tech support
Cheers for that, in touch with Tom at Omron now. And I can get the kit from the local Underwoods too so all good! Reckon about £500 ish all in. Thanks again.

Make that over £600+VAT for the CX-One software (lite version) suite that does both the drives and plcs. Includes all leads and RS232 adapters and their own USB to RS232 converter. I never realised that Omron don't make their own drives but have a tie up with Yaskawa of Japan. Trouble is the site is 8/9 years old seems the modern kit just has an RJ45 port on the front and is Intel based.
