i am creating a wall half blackboard paint and half magnetic paint in the playroom for the kids. at the top of the room are some electric wires that run along by the ceiling, will they be affected by either paint, i don't really know what either one has in it...

Hello shakira, there are a lot of unknowns there to give a reliable answer. What sort of cables are they? Mains power, Telephone, Data, Alarm system, Home Audio/Video etc. As you point out you don't know what the paints have in them that is also a bit tricky. Standard emulsion causes minimal negligible effect on the items it is painted over. I think you need to provide a specification for the paint and possible a photo of the cables on the wall would help.

What do you intend using it for? client asked for this to be painted on the walls of a conference room to hang tempoary lightweight displays up, but they kept failing off as the paint was carp.

just make sure the paint doesnt draw all the power from the cables!

BTW,

I do agree with the magnetic stuff being feebley weak.!

try it somewhere like a piece of wood first,

might be better to get a tiny thin sheet of metal and screw it to the wall then just paint it whatever colour.
