I am trying to work out where to locate my wireless network router and a small network storage box, neither of which use very much power. For various reasons I would like to put them in a corner of our kitchen, where unfortunately the only power point anywhere near is in use by our fridge/freezer. I wonder if anyone could advise whether using a 4-gang extension would be a bad idea?
The fridge/freezer only appears to draw less than 100w, but has a 13A fuse in, presumably because it draws a higher current briefly when the compressor starts. Generally, for my own peace of mind, I try to only connect 3A fused appliances to a 4-gang so that I know they cannot exceed 13A in total. Does anyone know what a typical maximum consumption is for a fridge/freezer when starting up? I have a plug-in power consumption meter, but it appears the surge is so brief that it does not register on it.
Thank you very much for any advice.
