What happens to the power output in a resistive circuit if the voltage doubles ??, would it be the same for an inductive circuit.

Thanks for looking.

Firstly the power quadruples.

Secondly, no change.

hi

if you double the voltage, you double the current so the power quadruples...

hows that for quick!

hi

for an inductive circuit it doesnt matter if you double the voltage, the power is still nil....in theory anyways;\

why can't we double voltage and keep current the same? (increase resistance)
Because in this example we are increasing (doubling) the voltage, resistance is constant.

hi

if you have a fixed resistance and apply a voltage ,a current will flow....

if you double the pressure( voltage) then double the current must flow

because we all know V = I x R

so also I = V / R

and we know Power = I x V

swapping the 'I' in the above formula

means that power = (V/R) x V

or Power = ( VxV ) / R

e.g. Power = V

Blimey!

while I was composing my epic..

with me short paws and slow typin...

everyman and his brother has snuck in before me!!! :_| :_|

Your contribution as always (detailed) is most appreciated.

hi

the op asked about inductive circuits

if it is pure inductive,(theoretical with no resistance) then it has no power no matter what voltage is applied as the V and I are 90 degrees out of sync....

i am like edison, i hate acPray

google " battle of the currents"
