Sy isn’t suitable for fixed installations imho

that said see it being used more these days .... quite why is beyond me
It is used a lot off shore as it is a lot lighter in weight than SWA cable. Top side weight for is an important consideration in oil rig construction so a dare say several miles of SY cable compared to SWA must be a few tons lighter. Usually terminated with a Hawke 501 Universal gland which can be used on SWA or braided cables due it having a reversible cone ring allowing for the thinner braid.

Newb1 ..   SY flex is a non standard cable  , you won't find any tables for it .

Its not  what you need for your socket .       ( Just saying  however , the current ratings are much the same  as any other cable )

It has it's uses but not domestic wiring .    An excellent & useful product ,   remember the braid is'nt good enough for earth fault currents  & doesn't replace SWA .

Options :-

  1)    If socket is domestic  just use  flat twin /earth  , surface  fixed  and a RCD socket

  2)  As Sidewinder said , insert an RCD  in enclosure by the board , route the ring main through it ,   then spur off the ring somewhere for your garage plug .

Personally I'd go with (1)
