16th edition

100mA mainswitch

30mA RCD

17th edition

30mA RCD

30mA RCD

Do you then still make the mainswitch 100mA ? ?

Any assistance much appreciated

Many thanks

andy I think he was refering to a TT instalation.

There is little diference between 16th and 17th editions, most of which is definition.

i though he wanted to know if a dual split still needed 100mA.... have made first post a bit clearer now

if the fuseboard is metal u may need a 100mA RCD to protect the tails entering the board, or one of those special grommets i have yet to find

Wozz

Just use a 32mm nylon gland. I always use glands on metalclad boards.

Hello everyone, thanks for all your comments and I apologise for not introducing myself. It's Graham and no no relation ha ha. Sorry if my post didnt make sense, let me try again. What I was trying to say was with the old 16th edition regs when installing a split load c/u on a TT system we used to put a 100mA mainswitch and then a 30mA RCD. Now with the new 17th edition regs you have a mainswitch and two 30mA RCD's. So does that mean the mainswitch still has to be 100mA as well as with the two 30mA RCD's? I understand as long as each outgoing circuit is RCD protected where applicable. I have actually looked in the osg but it only shows a mainswitch. Is that a bit clearer as to what I am trying to get at? Let me know thanks

Graham as long as enclosure is insulated main switch does not have to be an Rcd anymore. You could use either one with two Rcd's or a high integrity one which allows for putting Rcbo's on immersion and cooker and two Rcd's for other circuits. I hope this helps.

Or one with all Rcbo's in it if customer will pay

Thanks Batty, that is exactly what I thought but it was one of those things when you doubt yourself if you know what I mean? How you finding the work situation at the moment?
