just been looking at getting a van ...

running a navara at the moment but need

the extra room for the tools.

just spotted the offer for a new trafic at 10950 + vat(via Renault website)

which seems very good.

Does anyone run one of these if so ...... is it any good/bad

cheers

This isn't much help , but I had a Renault Traffic about 16 years ago and thought it was excellent, comfortable up front, nice to drive, good heater, good radio, 5 gears , quiet running, and a big round recepticle in the door for your Thermos ,Oh and sliding door on the nearside.

We have a vaux vivaro which is almost if not identical to the renault and from when i've gone on a long journey from stafford to ramsgate it was a pleasure to drive.

Nice and quick and comfy seating aswell and plenty of space in the cab and a 6 speed gearb box is a dream.

these are excellent vans , had several over the years, however they are prone to gearbox and clutch problems,(search google, there must be thousands of posts) so be wary of that, however saying that if its new then you will have a good warranty on parts

I have one , main problems are the gear box but this is no longer an issue in the new ones.

Excellent vans, best in the price range IMO , not in the same league as the VW Transporter, but a good van for the money.

I have recently bought a Vivaro. Got the Sportive as i wanted air con. Paid a lot more than 10k for it. Fantastic vehicle. 3 very comfortable seats, fantastic stereo and a heater that melts your trainers. Being the Sportive it has digital readouts for loads of things and best economy in town i have managed was 39 mpg fully loaded with ladders on the roof. Almost double the Nissan Cargo it replaced. The security on the later models is very good as once double locked you can only open the rear with the key-fob and no locks to force. Also the alarm will always sound if the doors are not opened with the fob ( You have to turn the ignition on & off to cancel). I still had mortise locks fitted though.

Renault Traffics are seem to be favoured by Plasterers and Plumbers, and funnily enough, those are the tradesmen that I know, that have them.

I quite like the look of the new shape Renault Traffic, and I haven't heard of any complaints about them, so far.

Do you not like the good old "New Shape, Ford Transit"?

:)

its the cost of the van....

here a can get a new van for very little money (against other new models)

I don't know if it is because I had one for 3 years, but the Tranny is to me simply a 'builders' van and has to be, without exception - the ugliest van in the world. Mine had a new gearbox at 50K and no matter how much it was washed, always looked battered and unprofessional. As soon as the pennies will allow I am opting for the Transporter which seems in a whole different league.

I've got a 57 trafic lwb (company van but i've only driven it from new). Just under 3 years old and 38k on the clock. The gearbox has just gone but luckily as its just under the 3 years (by 2 months) renault has replaced it under warrenty. I think its a great van to drive, very comfy with lots of room but if it was my van I would be hesitant to buy one as they do tent to go wrong we've got another one on the firm a 56 reg and we've spent thousands on repairs. But like most things in life you get what you pay for and new these vans are very cheap. :)
