Nothing official from NICEIC as yet.

RIP Tony Cable 1942-2020

It was very sad to hear that our dear friend Tony Cable passed quietly away on Sunday, surrounded by his family.

We first met Tony back in 2007 when we were working on a video with Billy Byrne for the NICEIC on the 16th Edition of the Wiring Regs. Tony’s experience and charisma really made an impression on our production team.  As a result, when it came to producing new videos for the 17th, it was an easy decision to invite him to co-present.

Tony was a natural on screen.  The 17th Edition films began a long partnership including memorable trips to Germany to film consumer units being blown up and presenting shows for the NICEIC.

For those that know us well, you may have heard our Production Director, Terry, refer affectionately to Tony as “Uncle Tony”. During the filming of one of our Inspection and Testing videos, Terry spent two very cramped days under the stairs of the house filming Tony testing. During this time they chatted a lot and got to know each other very well. They both have a passion for Chelsea FC and rioja wine but, more importantly, they both shared a great passion about good quality training in the electrical industry.

Tony, or TC as I always called him, was one of our greatest advocates.  He was a friend and someone who lit up and captured the room when he entered. There are many words that you can use to describe someone who made such a positive impact on our lives but one word describes Tony perfectly … legend.

Tony, your friendship and passion for the electrical industry will be sadly missed.
