Hi everyone, would appreciate so advice. I’m a qualified electrician and have built/ installed a sauna at home.

The sauna heater stayed on the first time I used it for maybe 40 min then took out the RCD. I’ve spoke to the manufacturer and they recommend that it’s not RCD protected. Every circuit in my house is on an RCD and I wouldn’t feel comfortable having and electrical element where water is poured on, not on one. The regs I’ve found say it’s not required unless the manufacturer states it is.

thanks

tom

youre right in that the regs say you dont need an RCD on it, however if the heater is leaking enough to earth to trip then circuit then imo there's something wrong with the heater
