hi had an outside light which you switched on from the kitchen and was not very bright.so decided to put a sensor light instead.wired it up earth to earth neutral blue to black and red to brown live.problem is the sensor stays on when switched on at the wall and if off at the wall dosent work also tried leaving on for five minutes to see if goes out itself also ajusted the settings underneath the sensor could it maybe the sensor is not working or do not wire it directly from the switch anyone any idea.

have you connected the live in the right place? there is normally 2 live connections, the live you connect to, and another switched live from the sensor. wrong place means light will be permanently on.

or many lights will go switch on permanent if supply is turned off for a few seconds and back on again. turning off for at least 10 seconds usually puts it back into sensor mode

hi checked wiring there is only the three for the live, neutral, earth and the other one must be for the sensor which was already in place.have switched of for a while and put back on still stays on .im guessing it must be a faulty light.

oh forgot to mention its a twin light switch one for the kitchen light and the other for outside light could this be the problem.

thanks for the advice.

When first switched on, some of the sensor lights go into "test mode" for 5 mins or so.

If there are no other connections (my initial thought was as Andy`s above), then you either have a faulty light; or your wiring isn`t what it should be (i.e. polarity issue), which can have odd effects on PIR sensors.

If you've confirmed the connections are correct and the live is connected to the correct terminal rather than switched live and it doesn;t do as it says on the instructions (take those with a pinch of salt, some PIR's are random at the best of times) then the PIR is faulty, not an uncommon occurrence tbh.
