Breaking news this morning.

http://www.solarpowerportal.co.uk/news/breaking_government_sets_future_feed_in_tariff_rate_1404

While the amendment to the feed-in tariff order is to be laid today, given the Christmas recess the changes cannot come into effect until 8 February 2016. In order to protect the new budget allocation of £100 million, DECC has elected to enact a four-week pause on new feed-in tariff installations which will run from 15 January to 8 February 2016.

Any installation made between those dates will not be eligible for the previous rates and will receive the new 4.39p rate from 8 February onward. The first rate will run from 8 February to 31 March, after which degressions will begin to occur.
So in effect the rate drops on 16th January to 4.39p via a rather sneaky move to circumvent the 40 day procedure.

don't you just love this government.

Twas talking to a pipe strangler yesterday what does solar thermal/gas etc etc, apparently it was on the agenda to ban all new gas boiler systems etc etc from 2016, except that now we will be fracking under the national parks. I have my doubts about fracking cos it will only be about 1km deep, which may well interfere with water tables??? if it was much deeper then it probably wouldn't be an issue, but....
