Hi guys, got to fit some solar PV panels , fitted some a few years back and they were pretty straightforward,

but these ones backfeed to the mains.

done my calcs for volt drop etc,

any pointers as to what I need to be designing to connect these to the incoming?

thanks.

some inverters may have this intergrated

but the connection to grid will need some sort of import/export mettering system and an arrangement with dno for buy back pricing

only what i've picked up from reading the net steps so have a look dude

we are getting 41p ish a unit,

all been sorted, meter sorted too, I was wanting to know how the protective devive needed to be fitted, am I the load or the feed, is it just the PV panel/inverter wired off an MCB in the board kinda thing and it pushes current back and forth as and when.?

do I just wire the PV to a spare way and let it do its thing? do you actually have to put the units onto the grid or do they pay you just to produce them,

any help?

thanks folks, looks like I connect in parrallell with the incomer,

separate little one way unit feeding parrallell to the tails by the looks of things,

will get some pics and let you know how it goes,

one thing I know is wrong already, the brackets to angle the panels have been made for 30 degrees, the roof actually has a negative fall on it, so the panels will be at less than 30 degrees, and after I worked out the optimum should have been about 32, means we will lose about 100 units a year!!!!! shock horror.!!!!!!

I really must look in my BRC more often. :D

I thought you could only get the feed in tarrifs if it was installed by a certified installer?

We were told at a recent ECA presentation that the suppliers would only give out the feed in tarrifs if the system was certified and was installed by a certified person (not talking part P here either).

this will be the 3rd ECO installation, (needed) to gain the MCS (?) accreditation. Im not sure how many you need, Ive already done a heat pump and wet solar, a biomass burner, and this will be the solar PV part.

Correct, and use MCS accredited kit.

For MCS accreditaion you have to prove competency i.e. some form of PV training including a working at heights certificate.

AFAIK the only thing left that is required of me is the actual inspections of installations (according to the MCS office),

anyhow, they are coming out tuesday, so will get some pics done tomorrow and monday, and get them on here if I ever work it out.

will keep you all updated.

i wonder when the gov will bring in "use of sun tax" :^O

just got it mounted today,

my what a laugh I had,

boss had said to go put the panels together on saturday,(but its pretty big says I),

and we will lift it onto the roof on monday with the FLT,

his face this morning,

its VERY big says he,

took the panels back off the frame and built it back up on the roof, cabling started but not finished yet,

no one has bothered to ask DNO/supplier for connection yet.! (bloody joke sometimes our place)

will get some more pics up tomorrow now I kinda have a clue about doing them. :D

still not sure about isolators etc, more reading required methinks. :(

From what i have seen in other posts, there is a DC isolator, an invertor and an AC isolator.

Not seen a set up yet myself so looing forward to the big day
