wasnt quite sure where to post this but anyway.

I have a Behringer BHX1200 which is a 120W Bass Guitar amplifier with integral 12" cone speaker. TWhen I press against the centre of the speaker where there is a raised cardboard dome, the noise ceases and it sounds OK.

Any ideas?

It's probably the coil tube on the back of that cone rubbing or contacting against the magnet. It can be fixed but it involves removing the cone entirely so it's better to have it done professionally.

It's always worth checking the obvious, make sure nothing (including the wiring) has broken loose around the speaker and check for foreign objects inside the housing.

As a lad, I dismantled and rewound a speaker once. It never did sound quite the same ever again, so I wouldn't recommend it.

If it's a good amp, consider a new speaker unit. CPC have quite a few 12" speakers for different applications such as PA, Guitar amps etc.

As has been said - replace the unit - suggest an Eminence unit. I did this with my 15" Ashdown bass combo - and the improvement was fantastic! Thomann (google it) is a good place to start looking.

Try Blue Aran on t`net for a new driver. You will find a difference in sound (and probably a large improvement) if you use an Eminence driver,. They are Behringer dealers so may be able to obtain a genuine replacement or advise what model eminence to go for.
