Hi everyone,

just a quick question, my boss is out of the office today and i want to crack on with some plans to fit out a fire alarm system in our unit, rather than sitting on facebook all day.

does anyone know the symbols for smoke heads, emergency break glass points and the fire panel?

also is there anything i need to consider when placing them, i.e. distance etc?

Cheers Guys

Head for the Cooper Menvier site, there's some guides to fire alarms and emergency lights on there.

As for symbols, the FAP is just a box with 'FAP' written in it, the detectors are generally just round things with a letter in for the different type of detector and the sounders are just some sort of box with a letter by them. Some plans use a bell symbol for sounders but as most systems use sounders rather than bells this is not used. Depends how pedantic the architect is! At the end of the day you can use whatever want to denote where items are going as long as you provide a key.
