Thermostat testing

Can anyone tell me of a way to test the thermostat that attaches to

the hot water cylinder??

Would i get any readings using low ohm meter and vary the temp adjuster????

No I don't think so , they are usually a bi-metalic strip operating a c/over switch with clean contacts. Any problem would be with the strip not reacting at the correct temp .

i also thought this, i turn the hot water on only and turn the thermostat right down and it should cut off the boiler, not all go low enough though although honeywell ones do

if you want to test temperature, im sure you could by some kind of device
