Love it .     What is it about steam locos that continues to fascinate .    

Its made me remember something from childhood ......   a train we used travel on in Wales would stop for quite a while , I 'd get fed up and ask my dad why we were waiting .  " We are changing to a single track here so we have to wait for the eastbound train to get here ..... and  the driver hands "The Keys"  over to our driver . 

Health & Safety of the time , you couldn't set off on the single track unless you had the "Keys" in the cab.  

It was a big steel ring with some sort of tally on it I think .

As kids we used to go to Snow Hill Station in Brum with a penny platform ticket ...... some of the drivers would let you up into the cab ...........just see that happening today .

did you work in Tunstead cement works?

The old cement plant not the new one.

I was based in the kilns area.
