yesterday my computer was v slow so i took the cover off and got out the digital tempriture gauge and got 60 degrees of the northbridge and 50 of the graphics card, because i had a spare 80mm fan i glued it to a peice of wood and aimed it at the components. the increase in speed is amazing:D

Did any of you see the "Christmas lectures" from the Royal institute this year...

(you know the ones that are aimed at bringing a bit or science to the younger audience, where they have loads of practical examples of modern science & technology concepts)

anyway... they were on about computers and data stuff this year.. only saw a few bits.. but one thing I did see was an example of how hot the typical microprocessor got...

they had a PC motherboard with a modified heat sink off the proccessor...

which actually went to the bottom of a small frying pan...

the thing was all wired up and running some common applications..

and they cracked an egg into the pan.. to see how quickly it would fry the egg!

not long at all!!!

so you can cook your eggs from all that wasted heat!!! :|

u could use modified water cooling the heat your house:D

:coat

My PC is water cooled, I still have airflow fans but the cpu is totally cooled by water.

Great for overclocking I am told but I know nothing :^O

So its still a stock item really.

I bought it initially for on line gaming.

Could always go one further and install an air con into computer case

or use liquid helium or something else colder

i was thinking of that by using brine ut i could not find a block of copper big enough :( because u cannot beat it:D

Blimy GH, I thought only the young lads were into water cooling

Next you'll tell me it's a i7 running at 4Ghz, a pair of GTX295 in SLi, 6GB RAM, 2TB SATA RAID and topped off with a 24" Wide LCD (lost any one yet?)

PS Does your Van have blue neon's under the chassis ; \

The geeks who go for the record overclocks do use liquid Nitrogen, but then they are single :D

Yes saw that too, I doubt the CPU was still a working model though, without cooling CPU's fry in around 4-5mins, after that they are just silicon toast

And just on another point if you are in the habit of building your own PC's applying too much or uneven silicon grease between fan and CPU can also lead to poor heat dissipation to the cooler it leading to high temps

Do they run at 4Ghz now, the fastest I've come accross is 3.8Ghz.

For best cooling, is better to force air into the case, or draw it out?

I once overclocked a 2.2 and got 3.4Ghz which ran for about 6 months with no problems.

The main problem was the voltages on the motherboard, amazing how .02volt would make such a big difference.

Yes I am old almost 50 but I love on line gaming and I am admin on a well known server, and admin for a major anti cheat community,I hate them cheats almost as much as the buiders.

I use the same name as I do on this forum so you can all check me out lol
