Hi ,

Trying to work out quote for new kitchen install and they spec'd led under cupboard lighting bit not done this before.

Any recommendations please

Cheers

I like the LED strips,

keep saying I'll get some for my own place, the wife is forever moaning about the cables just hanging,

but, well, you know,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

I fitted some LED tape (cool white) under my parents cabinets,, they are very impressed! So much so that they had me put the remainder in their inner hallway

and at £30+vat for a 5m kit (Inc 60W driver) its cheaper than T5's or those stupid triangular things,,, without any dark spots or pools of light!

I have been saving up the off cuts and now have enough for my pelmets and kickboards,  even bought a driver. Give it another 10 years and i may get round to it.

Oh jeez,,, no links but they get them from Stern

A CW or WW kit costs me £30 (complete)+vat,,, they charged me 70p+ for the extra links

The only thing with the tape is that the surface that you're sticking them to has to be spotless :(

I always use the gel covered types. You can cut them every 3 leds and solder back together round corners, joints etc

I have the wiring in, its still going to take me ages to  get round to doing it. It took 8 years to put the cupboard doors on and a further 3 for the handles

With the gel types i use a stanley knife to cut the gel and gently scrape the copper, then solder. I have never used the links, a bit of bell cable, Cat 5 etc. No problem soldering but always carry a tin of flux  with my solder kit to help

Never had a problem with the self adhesive falling off. The gel types i use also come with a few saddles to screw back in awkward spots
