A customer has underfloor heating in her conservatory which doesnt warm up

the controller is one of these TH132-F Thermostat

Aube TH132F Programmable Floor Thermostat:Floor Heating Online

It is not the programmer as i have swapped it with another in the house and it works fine

the 5 bars that indicate that the floor is heating do not appear when calling for heat

am i right in saying the probe is at fault here and/or is there any other bits i should be looking at

to be honest the set up looks to be a bit of a mess i dont want to go in ripping things out............and be heavy handed

If you suspect the probe, check with a multi meter on ohms range, and compare it with the other one in the house. It's gong to be a thermocouple or thermistor so look for a similar resistance compared to the other one in the house. (measure with the other one turned off and the floor cold)

Check the heater mat for continuity and check for voltage coming out of the controller when you call for heat.

Thanks Dave

not had much to do with the wired ones

Dab hand though with wet systems and actuactors (not by choice i must add )

still waiting for the go ahead to do more tests !!!!

will let you know

Easiest:

resistance of mat - then plug it in on a socket top - if floor gets warm, mat is ok.

resistance of probe (multimeter, NOT megger) - typically 14-19Kohms

Its usually the floor probe that goes t1t5-up - some of the programmers can work around thius by firing on a "duty cycle" ( so a setting of "3" gives a 30% duty cycle - i.e. on for 3 of every ten mins, then off for the other 7).

I have used this successfully where the floor probe was buried in the floor, and couldn`t be accessed without smashing a tile (600x600 black high gloss marble, with 1mm spacing - so THAT wasn`t happening!!!!!)

Thats why the better kits have a piece of mini flexible conduit to slide the probe in so it can be changed (and they tell you that in the instructions) I know one guy that always buries 2 probes, just in case.

Always mate;)With a bit of tape around it where it enters so you know how far to push in the new one
same here, except use a white ink marker pen.
