Hi Chaps.

where would you normally site a FCU for electric velux windows.... there will be three in total, so do u suggest one per unit, or all three on one iso...??

many thanks

Funny, but I was going to say, if the fly lead (or whatever termination method electric velux's use) is long enough, then DO mount the FCU's up in the loft for the sake of aesthetics.

Leave a note by the CU to say so.

There you go, opposing answers to your question   O)

Not really local isolation if you have to go up in a loft just to turn it off.

In my experience electric ones are mounted in vaulted ceilings in extensions and summer rooms for ease of opening and not in the loft which are generally mounted at a handy height
I have had quite a few where light well have been made through the loft space with a Velux at the top.

Out of interest, do Velux make an opening motor thats 100% concealed, or are  they still surface mounted at the base?

School last week had FCU directly below velux adjacent to socket 450mm FFL, and a blank plate just to the side of the velux at high level where the connections to motor were. Looked neat and tidy.
