I need a new wander lead and was looking at 1 that plugs into an extention lead, a lot cheeper but are they any good?

That's what I use!!

Cheap as chips & does the job nicely

Many people use a roll of 1mm conduit singles! You can buy a gadget from ebay to make one from an extention lead yourself

i just use 1.5mm singles. depending on make of cable, sometimes the end sticks through centre of drum, so you dont have to full unwind it to get the end

All you do is wire a couple of meters of G/Y singles into the earth pin of a plugtop (remove fuse!!)

Plug it into one of the sockets on the extension reel you then have two ends - the earth pin of the extension reels plug and the wire coming out of the plug top...

I have been thinking of getting a cheap cassette extension reel, binning the 3c flex and fitting it with some tri-rated, a banana socket and croc clip..

But like most things I've not got round to it yet

That is exactly the plan that I had. But never got round to it either. :_|

Here's what you do with a draw line..

25mm PVC conduit coupler

go through once with draw and tape into 12" diameter circle

then feed coupler/draw around and around until you have it all nice like!!

I have a 13A plug with all the pins connected together, then to a 3mm test lead socket in cable inlet (held by flex grip), 13A trailing socket the same, hey presto any extension lead becomes a wander lead.

I found some blue 13A sockets on offer in B&Q, so it even looks posh (compared to the rest of my gear nayway)
