As is often the case,

loads and loads of installtions have no indication of when or if they were last inspected...

Whenever I come across a CU with no periodic insp' label

(as per 514-12-01 or 514.12.1.. whichever notation you prefer?)

Say on some minor works or when or small changes requiring EIS are done.

(not a rewire or CU change)

I put a label on the CU and write

'Unknown' in the last insp date.

and 'A.S.A.P. in the recommended next insp date.

Just wondering what approach others take.. :|

Leave it do nothin / Put label leave blank / put label best guess dates? ?:|

SL:)

Hi S.L.Brilliant idea - I've not done anything before - but I reckon you could pick up a bit of extra work there!

Cheers

Dave
Hi Dave..

Yes that is one of the reasons I do it...

Authough on an EIS you do tick the boxes in 'Sched Items Inspected' area

where identification, labelling/warnings/signs etc.. are somthing you say you have checked...

which in reality means you have verified the appropriate signs are installed??

Or looking at it another way...

If you were using the site as a reference site for your next anual inspection..

I guess you would make sure it had all the right labels on???? :)

But as you say once a customer has been made aware that they havent got a clue, if or when the wiring was checked... :|

It does often prompt the question...

well how much would it cost and how long does it take???

So once again you have chance to stick your sales mans hat on...

give em a price get out your diary to book a date! :) :) :)

I do pretty much the same m8.

BUT - had some stickers made up, quoting company name & `phone numbers. Even if they don`t have it done immediately, your details are there to prompt them.

stick a PIR label on and put the date I tested it on,

BUT, I have a big space on mine to say exactly what/which circuit ONLY it relates too.

point this out to the customer and hopefully they realise the importance of it.!

and realise they need rest of circuits tested too

Only trouble with that people might think you done the installation

True; and I think my next ones will incorporate steptoe`s idea (tks m8). :x

But...yeah, some punters may think that. :( I tend not to get overly worried about things which are beyond my control; i.e. customer intelligence.:DB)

That is the gamble??

On the whole I think it is better to have a label with a contact number

than no label at all! :)

I have some with a bit of wording that says

"Some part of this installation has been installed modified or tested by...."

then name contact number etc..

If the need to know more they can ring you and you can refer to the certificte(s).

Again it gives customer confidence that you are contactable not a fly-by-night!!! :D

Apparently this is the new favourite on NICEIC assessment. My mate got picked up for no T&I label on a cu after he'd extended kitchen ring.

well thats cos he didnt label correctly.

if you do anything that involves you filling in a test cert isnt there always a space to tick that labels are correct?

I must confess I'm a bit sloppy here sometimes (no excuse, because I have a roll of these lables in the van)..

However, I usually also comment on unknown last inspection, for what it is worth...
