hello, fitted a kitchen sink today. one and a half sink. problem is the current waste pipe is high up in the unit and the new waste is a joint waste for both sinks, when fitted the waste pipe is too high.

1 so i could re core a new waste

2 T off the current waste pipe and use 2 separate traps, (1 for each sink)

this would fit but it will involve lots of messing around lots with elbows in the unit.

3, could try this but not sure how well it would work.#

drop the waste pipe down to fit, so it would be similar to a u bend but after the trap, the sink is higher than the waste hight so i think it would drain

any ideas?

thanks

I tend to always fit a complete new waste as you can almost guarantee that the old one will be blocked or getting that way and it also makes your new sink look the part as it drains away nice and quickly through a full 1 1/2" bore rather then the jammed up 1/2" that it does now. :)

will see what looks best tommorrow, dont want a jungle of wast, but recoring will leave messy holes and a cement mess on the outside wall

Again I find I agree with Lurch.

If I do have to do anything with a sink that is.

I never rely on the old and prefer to put new in, this way there are less comebacks, and often a neater job than trying to mix and match.

thanks for the help i will see whats best tommorrow

Well if the job requires fitting a new waste, which IMO it does, then it needs a new hole. It's just got to be, it's not like you're just randomly bashing holes through the walls for no reason. Also, if you can get the new core into the old hole it shouldn;t look too bad, and you could colour the mortar or throw a bit of brick dust on it to blend it in so it doesn;t jump out at you.

have put the core in the old hole before. That looks ok. Prob will do that thanks

thanks for the replies. whent for 2 traps in the end, it went in with out 2 much hassle. replaced the old wast pipe also
