I don't know how people think at the moment but what do you lot think of all the price rises, all materials seem to be going through the roof, went into PTS plumbers merchants today and 10 lengths of 3metre 22mm copper pipe cost me

Can annyone explain why if inflation is rising they put up interest rates? Surely this only adds to inflation especially in the state the economy is at this moment

Ive gotta be honest, once it starts getting complicated I just dont understand it all.

The whole hyperinflation scenario is pretty scary tho, I mean once it gets to that state, where do you go from there?

I heard that the Zimbabwean version of "Who wants to be a Millionaire" had a problem because question 15 by the time they got there was actually worth less than question 1 :)

It will soon be as dear to by here as in norway and that exspensive with all there taxs but thay have got very low interest rates

a pint of beer

If you look at ,say , an unskilled manual worker on a fairly low income ,with a house , a wife and two kids to support, a quarter of his wages he never sees (Tax & NI ) council tax , VAT and petrol, probably takes another quarter, then utility bills , mortgage , road tax, insurances, kids clothes, food, TV tax . There can't be much cash jingling in his pocket to spend on what he would like, although many seem to be able to smoke and drink .

John Major once said , we want to alter taxes so that a working man has some spare cash jingling in his pocket to spend on what he wants. Nothing happened but he did say it!!
