Hi,

I just moved to the new house and I want to do some renovation.

I need to turn the power off for a while but I'm a bit puzzled by my fuseboxes.

Pic no. 4

Pic no. 5

Would anyone be able to tell me which one is the main switch?

I have Pay-as-you-go electricity - that's the box on the left-hand side bottom corner (photo 1 and 2).

Two fuse boxes from the right-hand side bottom corner (pic no 3) are in more detail in the last two photos.

Photo no 4 - labels say Lightning and Shower - would that be just for the bathroom or all lights?

Photo no 5 - there used to be a stair lift installed in the house, so I assume that was the purpose of that one.

Is the main switch next to the Pay-as-you-go meter (on the right) or would that be that switch next to the 3 old fuses (pic no 3)?

Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks,

Greg

The one with the Blue & Brown wires going into the top of it..

on the right hand side of the electric meter should turn everything off.

Power comes from the street..

via the suppliers main fuse..

into the meter first...

Then goes through that switch by the meter.

I suspect this property needs a LOT of work done on it's electrical installation.
It looks like it has already had a lot of work badly done

The mention of a stairlift suggests that the person that was living there was disabled and there has been a number of modifications to the property that have been done on a just do enough to facilitate the works needed to help the person living there

Looking at some of the older switches it looks likely that a rewire is needed
