Why do people join this forum?

Might be having an unecessary rant but it's not that long ago that somebody joined this forum & promptly sent everyone a PM advertising his wares &/or services.

Now we have a guy studying for an MBA in finance who appears to be using this site to promote his computer gaming business in Jersey.

Is this within the spirit of this forum? All opinions gratefully received.

no exbdc i think you have a valid point there, that sort of member should and will be removed (hopefully) when doc H or another one in charge logs on again later. i really dont like members who just come on here to advertise a gaming business or worse sexuality type adverts. Its SPAM!!!

Unfortunately, these things do happen.

As you can see they are generally short lived, so hopefully no harm done to the forum at large.

it does happen. Admin cant really stop them from first joining, but once they start posting crap, it doesnt take long for admin/mod to remove it

When We first started this forum, I would stop them as they tried to register - Preventing them from signing up.

How did I know if they were spammers?

Quite easy - But, naturally - I had to be online when they try to register.

I still do it when I am online, but it is through the Admins, Mods and our fantastic members that alert us to the fact of "Certain Posts" that we can nip this in the bud.

in a week last sundays paper we had four pages of footy (season finished yonks ago) and three pages of murray fever ( another loser subsequently)

the doctor won his 100th GP ( in thirteen years, and he has just turned 30!) at dutch TT and never got a mention, no not even a little square ROTFWL

makes me ill to be honest....

but now you will all read and worship for sure

well for the story......and to illustrate my claims....

he was unbeatable with honda who were the best team then, had a fall out with them in 03 and walked out.

he got a ride for yamaha who were a joke team at the time. they were that bad that the chief editor of the biggest weekly bike paper said,

" though he is the best, if he gets top 6 next season it will be a monumental achievement"

in 04 he won again with the then biggest points tally in history ROTFWL

in one race that season he got a "ride through penalty" of 10 seconds and promptly won by 14 seconds.......

but anyway...talking about our inward looking media, how about another legend who never got a mention last week....
