Another Big Green Lie has been exposed by the Advertising Standards Authority.

The British Wind Energy Association has been forced to own up to its deception over just how much carbon dioxide emission can be eliminated by using wind turbines to generate electricity instead of burning fossil fuels such as coal or gas.

"Experts have previously calculated that to help achieve the Government's aim of saving around 200 million tons of CO2 emissions by 2020 - through generating 15 per cent of the country's electricity from wind power - would require 50,000 wind turbines.

But the new figure for carbon displacement means that twice as many turbines would now be needed to save the same amount of CO2 emissions. "

So....we've been sold another pup by this govt. and its Big Business partners. The govt. have already warned that domestic users of electricity will face a rise of 30% in their bills to pay for the inefficiencies of wind-generation; now it seems the subsidy, funded by the tax-payer, just to build and install these mad-cap white elephants, is going to be doubled.

Some silly b***ard keeps voting for them.

100 wd :)

I'm afraid the future is nuclear.

We can't rely on the Russians for oil and gas, and it's running out!

Naturals can't provide enough power and they are unsightly.

Nuclear all the way 0 no CO2, minimal waste.

Its all a crock of sh@t anyway

when i was a kid they used to turn off the street lights at night

they dont anymore ?:|

carbon footprint of M.K. huge

neon advertising signs in London ?? 24/7

i will leave it at that for the moment

the answer is the sea currents... cant believe no one is even looking to that ?

The Spanish or Portuguese government is currently trialing the use of wave power to produce electricity. I was reading somewhere about a company that has come up with a bit of equipment to produce electricity from waves. Apparently designed and built by the Scottish.

You've obviously not seen the work on sea turbines - its happening,
Applaud Smiley

Indeed so Binky! ;)

I believe the Severn estuary, (second largest tidal range in the world!), is under some pretty serious considerations & evaluations! :)

well thast just another figure someone has 'calculated'! When will we get the revised one again!

NUCLEAR FISSION ANYONE?
Nuclear Fusion is the real way forward once the problems of sustaining and containing the process are sorted out.
