My sister `phoned me with an odd problem - I`ve found out what it is, but not why or how to resolve it.
On Sunday, she attempted to connect lappy to TV; to watch a DVD through the lappy I think............
I`m told she used a 15 pin VGA, and a 3.5mm jack to phono
The sound from the laptop stopped working; and so did the DVD drive, at the same time.
System/device manager shows them both with yellow exclamation marks; and the DVD, in "properties", reports an error code 19
We`ve tried reinstalling driver - no luck.
Tried disabling and enabling drive - no luck.
I looked into one of these "free" registry repair thingies; but I`ve two issues with `em.
1. All the ones I saw want you to buy `em before they "repair" what they found as "faults"
2. I can`t see why connecting the laptop to a telly can have any effect on the registry, specifically the DVD drive & the sound.
I`m going to be visiting her this weekend; and want to put it right for her if I can.
Thoughts, ideas and solutions gratefully received.
